Synopsis of the poem:-

Teachers are the backbone of the nation, the platform of progress. Teachers are artisans of society. Therefore, the responsibility of the teacher is immense. There is no sacred duty like teaching. Only a teacher can blossom the latent qualities of a small child's mind like a flower with his/her caress, affection and love. To pass the child into manhood through independent development.
And the child who has passed this humanity will one day become a worthy citizen with humanity and will move towards the development of the country and the nation. Therefore, today the teacher has to take the great responsibility of developing the child as a worthy citizen, because for the last two years, all the schools of the country were closed due to the epidemic of 'Corona'. As the school was closed, all the students were deprived of the opportunity to study. Especially in rural areas where the parents of the children are poorly educated or completely illiterate.

Why is Radhakrishnan birthday as Teachers Day?

After all, the parents of poor families who migrated to foreign countries to earn a living, the children of those parents are lagging behind in the necessary education. They are the most affected. It is now the responsibility of the teachers to bring up these backward students. They should take care as much as possible towards the child students with their affection, love and compassion. Only then, maybe in the near future that loss can be compensated to some extent.

As much knowledge as these students can acquire in the sincerity and love of the teacher, that teacher will be enlightened. Because the student is the reflection of the teacher. It is for this purpose that great teachers have been called upon in the poem on the occasion of Teacher's Day on 5th September (Birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.)

কবিতটির ভাবসংক্ষেপ:-

শিক্ষক জাতির মেরুদণ্ড, উন্নতির সোপান। শিক্ষক সমাজের কারিগর। তাই শিক্ষকের দায়িত্ব অপার। শিক্ষকতার মত পবিত্র দায়িত্বপূর্ণ কাজ আর নেই। একমাত্র শিক্ষকই পারে ছোট ছোট শিশুর মনের সুপ্ত গুণগুলিকে তার আদর স্নেহ ভালবাসায় ফুলের মত ফুটিয়ে তুলতে। শিশুকে স্বাধীন বিকাশের মাধ্যমে মনুষ্যত্বে উত্তীর্ণ করতে। আর এই মনুষ্যত্বে উত্তীর্ণ শিশুই একদিন হয়ে উঠবে মানবিকতাসম্পন্ন যোগ্য নাগরিক এবং দেশের ও জাতির উন্নতির লক্ষ্যে এগিয়ে যাবে। তাই শিশুকে যোগ্য নাগরিক হিসেবে গড়ে তোলার মহান দায়িত্ব আজ সম্পূর্ণরূপে নিতে হবে শিক্ষককেই, কারণ গত দু'বছর অতিমারি 'করোনা'র দাপটে দেশের সমস্ত বিদ্যালয়ে পঠন-পাঠন ছিল বন্ধ। বিদ্যালয় বন্ধ থাকায় সমস্ত পড়ুয়া শিশুগণ পঠন-পাঠনের সুযোগ থেকে ছিল বঞ্চিত। বিশেষ করে গ্রামীন এলাকায় যেখানে শিশু পড়ুয়াদের বাবা-মা স্বল্প শিক্ষিত কিম্বা একেবারেই নিরক্ষর।

সর্বোপরি যে হা-ভাতে সংসারের বাবা-মা পেটের ভাত জোগাড় করতে পাড়ি দিয়েছিল ভিন্ রাজ্যে। সেই সমস্ত বাবা-মা'র পড়ুয়া সন্তান প্রয়োজনীয় শিক্ষা থেকে পিছিয়ে পড়েছে অনেকটা। সবচেয়ে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছে তারা। এই পিছিয়ে পড়া শিক্ষার্থীদের গড়ে-পেটে নেওয়ার দায়িত্ব এখন শিক্ষকের। তাঁদের স্নেহ ভালোবাসা এবং মমতা দিয়ে শিশু শিক্ষার্থীদের প্রতি যতটা পারা যায় যত্নবান হতে হবে। তবেই হয়তো অদূর ভবিষ্যতে সেই ক্ষতি কিছুটা হলেও পূরণ হতে পারে।

এই শিক্ষার্থীরা শিক্ষকের আন্তরিকতায় এবং স্নেহ ভালবাসায় যতটা জ্ঞান অর্জন করতে পারবে ততটাই আলোকিত হবেন সেই শিক্ষক। কারণ ছাত্রই শিক্ষকের প্রতিবিম্ব। এই লক্ষ্যেই ৫ই সেপ্টেম্বর শিক্ষক দিবসের পুণ্য লগ্নে মহান শিক্ষকদের আহ্বান জানানো হয়েছে কবিতায়।

হে মহান শিক্ষক
খুশী সরকার

ওই শোনো আর্তরব উঠছে মুহূর্মুহু,
প্রাণপণ করছে চিৎকার বাঁচাও বাঁচাও,
তুমি কি দাঁড়িয়ে দাঁড়িয়ে দেখবে এখনো?
ওই ভেসে যাচ্ছে ওরা করুন নয়নে,
অশিক্ষা কুশিক্ষার প্রবল স্রোতে খড়কুটোর মতো।
বাঁচাও ওই কচি প্রাণ দক্ষ ডুবুরির প্রাণে-
বড় অসহায় ওরা, জানে না সাঁতার,
তোমার কাঁধেই সেই মহান ভার।

নয় আর বাদ-প্রতিবাদ,
তোলো জেহাদ,
একবার দেখো ওদের নিষ্পাপ চাহনি,
পূর্ণিমার আলোমাখা তুলতুলে ডানায়
ওরা বিচিত্র বর্ণের স্বপ্নে উড়তে চায়-
বড্ড নিরুপায়,
হা-ভাতে পেটে ক্ষুধার আগুন,
ওরাও আনতে পারে শিক্ষায় ফাগুন।

ঘুমিয়ে আছে কত মহান মনীষী ঋষি
মহাজ্ঞানী সন্ন্যাসী ওদের বুকে,
ওরা আজ কঠিন দুখে-
রূপকথার রাজকন্যার মত জাগাও ওদের,
তোমার আদর্শ কাঠির ছোঁয়ায়।
আপন-করা বুকের টানে ধরো ওই কচি দুটি হাত,
আদর্শময় চরিত্রের স্নিগ্ধ পরশে জ্বলবে ওরা,
শিশির সিক্ত মুক্তোর মত।
তুমি তখন ওদের চোখে জ্যোৎস্নার রূপোলি চাঁদ,
নিথর জলে নীল আকাশের ন্যায়।

তোমার সেবা সহানুভূতিতে পাপড়ি মেলবে শত
অজ্ঞান-আঁধার যাবে দূরে,
শ্রদ্ধা ভক্তি ভালবাসা থাকবে জীবন জুড়ে,
তুমি ওদের প্রাণের প্রদীপ,
তোমাকেই আলোকিত করবে ওরা দিক্ বিদিক।
